Vintage Mani for Two Friends Visiting Paris

Hi there!

A friend of mine and her cousin went to Paris a while ago, to visit family. I thought it appropriate for them to have matching manis with a Paris touch. Here goes!

The red is Bourjois "Rouge In Style", the blue is Bourjois "Bleu Fabuleux". The stripes were done with a gloopy white striper (I need a new one) and the dots with W7 "White" and a dotting tool. The roses were freehanded with a dotting tool and different colours of polish, I don't remember which.

Hope you like it!

Swatch-It Sunday: Paris Memories 236, 240, 289 & My First Helmer

Hello lovelies!

Sorry, I have been MIA for a while. I missed Friends on Friday, again! I will make it up to you next week. Tonight I do however have some swatches for you, so feast you eyes on that! They are from 3 pretties form Paris Memories, a budget-friendly make-up brand. My mother gave them to me :) She also gave me a Helmer to put them in! <3 <3 <3

These are the pretties I swatched:

Let's start with the mauve one, no. 240:

It is very pretty, even prettier on the nails than in the bottle! 2 coats are enough to make it opaque. It is a bit tricky to even out the streaks though, as is common with these metallic finishes. But it is forgiven, given the way it makes your hands look all sophisticated. This I could wear alone to a job interview. Got another one of those coming up soon, so I will keep this in mind!

Next up is no. 289, a greyish blue metallic pretty. Same as the mauve, opaque in 2 coats and prettier on the nails than in the botttle!

Finally I have no. 236, a black beauty. Opaque in 2 think coats and very good for nail art, like dotting and such, because of the high opacity.

Look at the reflection of the sky in the nails! Drool! ;)

Now for some nail art with these 3 pretties:

Just a dotticure gradient :) This was photographed in the fading sunlight, in the last hours of a beautiful day :)

Thanks mommie, for all the goodies!

PS. These polishes are available in The Netherlands at Douglas and various budget shops.

Twinsie Thursday: Monsters University

Dear lovelies,

Today me and the lovely Samantha from Southern Sparkle Nail Art swap posts. We both did our take on Monsters University manicures and here is Samantha's awesome creation!

Hello Lacquer Lovers!

Today Lothwen and I decided to swap posts! The time differences between us are kind of major, so you may be seeing my post on Thursday or Friday! For this Twinsie Thursday our theme was Monsters University! As a kid Monsters Inc. was one of my favorite movies, so of course I was down for this! Note, I may or may not have looked like a crazy teenager running into the theater. :)

For all of my nails but the accent nail I used one coat of Sinful Colors Sweet Nothing topped with three thin coats of Sally Hansen Wool Knot. The texture of Wool Knot was perfect for my Sully inspired nails, even though there was no purple!

For my accent nail I decided a portrait of my favorite character, Mike, was in order. I started off with one coat of Wet n Wild French White Crème to make the jelly neon green pop! I used three thin coats of Sinful Colors Irish Green. For Mike’s eye I used a small googly eye I purchased from my local craft store and for his mouth I used L.A. Colors Art Deco Pen in Black.

I hope you all enjoyed my post! Trust me, there will be more of these types of posts in the future between Lothwen and I! You can find Lothwen’s post on my blog HERE!

Until next time!

Thank you Samantha, for this lovely post and for doing the swap with me! I loved it! So yes, dear reader, there will be more...

Flower nail art on short nails

Hellooo!

Today, I want to show you the flower design I did on my aunt's nails. She has very short nails, but it still works! I did however have a problem with my nail polish. The weather has been very summery lately, and the temperatures have increased to around 30 degrees Celsius :D Excellent, but not for nail polish, apparently.. It turned all thick and gloopy. Perhaps next time, I should put them in the fridge first. Anyway, onto the mani:

I used Paris Memories no. 240 as a base, a pretty mauve shimmer that my mom got me, and then painted the flowers on as can be seen in this tutorial, with a black, white, silver and pearly striper. Then I topped it all off with some fast-drying topcoat from Sally Hansen.

Thanks to my aunt for lending me her nails! It was a lot of fun :)

Swatch-It Sunday - Catrice "I'm Not A Greenager"

Hello lovelies!

Today I present you: Catrice "I'm Not A Greenager". This is the greenest of greens! Look at it! I love it. It is opaque in 2 coats. Application is ok. The new brushes are a pain, they are uneven, so that complicates matters a bit. But for a cheap polish, it is fine. Now take a look at the greenness!

I did a bit of nailart. For this I used a dotting tool, white polish (W7) and red polish (Bourjois Rouge In Style) and a black striper. It is simple but cute!

Overall I'm pleased with this green beauty. So pick one up fast!

Mint Manis for Talia Joy

Hello lovelies,

No FoF today. Instead, we remember 13 year-old beauty guru Talia Joy, who sadly lost her battle against cancer last Tuesday. To remember and honour her, the nail polish community has decided to all wear a mint mani, as it is the last mani she posted on instagram. This is my contribution to this beautiful gesture.

I used Rimmel "Peppermint" and Golden Rose no. 122.

R.I.P. Talia!

My first China Glaze.. It's A Trap-eze!

Hi lovelies!

Today I want to share with you my first-ever China Glaze.. It's A Trap-eze! I got my hands on it, oh yes I did! It is super duper awesome, so much glitter, so many colours! Like happy rainbow marble. And the white milky base makes the nails appear longer.. Perfect :)

It was opaque in 2 coats. The glitter density is so high that it is just very easy to apply. I do recommend to get as much glitter as possible in the first coat, evenly distributed on the nail. That way you will have no problems applying the second coat. The glitter is very hungry. I have no glitter food, so I had to apply 2 coats of Seche Vite, but it still was not smooth. Oh well, no worries, I love it anyways!

Herôme WIC Sapporo swatches & review

Hey lovelies!

A week ago I picked up this pretty: Herôme World Inspired Colours "Sapporo", from the Mystic Japan collection. It is a very pretty periwinkle with a frosty shimmer.

It is opaque in 2 thin coats. The formula is a bit on the thick side, but it evens out smoothly. The shimmer is just gorgeous, yes, it is amazing. I needed to see what it looked like matte:

Still gorgeous, but I like it better shiny! I wanted to do some tape art with it. I will show you tomorrow :)

Friends on Friday: Bluetiful Flowers

Hello lovelies!

Today's FoF features one of my regulars :) I had already done a similar design on another friend's thumb, but I needed to try it on all ten digits for once :)

I used Catrice "It's All I Can Blue" as a base, and white, pearly white, black and silver stripers to create this. I'm working on a tutorial for you, I will post it tomorrow :)

EDIT: tutorial can be found here :)
